The Nevada Early Learning Needs Assessment Tool allows users to create custom reports by region and county, with some ZIP code detail, regarding the estimated demand for and supply of early care and education, and estimated number of children served by various early care and education programs. Data are available by age group for children 0-5.

ZIP code detail is available for most enrollment variables (for example, for the number of children served by the child care subsidy program) for the whole state. For population variables (for example, the number of children estimated to be eligible for child care subsidy program), ZIP code detail is only available for the most populous counties, Clark and Washoe.

Reports available through this tool include, by geographic area and age group:

  • The estimated number of children
  • Number of children estimated to be eligible for child care subsidy program
  • Number of children estimated to be eligible for Nevada Ready! State Pre-K
  • Number of children estimated to be eligible for Head Start
  • Number of children enrolled in or served by various early care and education programs, including child care subsidy program, Nevada Ready! State Pre-K, and Head Start

These data have been compiled from multiple sources, including:

  • American Community Survey (ACS) Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS)
  • Child Care and Development Program, Division of Welfare and Supportive Services of the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services
  • Nevada Department of Education
  • The Children’s Cabinet

Data are available for 2022. In 2024, when this tool was developed, the most recent American Community Survey data available were for 2022.
